Skills Training & In-Service
Guarding water is a discipline. We drill it.
Hands-on lifeguard skills training for pool staff, camp counselors and aquatic teams — scanning, recognition, rescue and resuscitation, practised until they are automatic. Skills instruction, not a certification course.
The Problem
Most guards are certified. Fewer are sharp.
A card issued two years ago proves someone passed a test once. It says nothing about whether they can still hold a scan pattern through hour six of a hot Saturday, or whether they would move on a quiet submersion in the deep end within ten seconds.
That is what this training is for. We drill the skills your team already holds a card for, on your own deck, in your own water, until the response is automatic rather than remembered.
The chair is only as good as the person watching from it.
What We Drill
The skills that decide the outcome.
Scanning & zone coverage
Sweep patterns, blind spots, glare and surface distortion, and how long a zone can actually go unwatched. Rotations that keep attention fresh instead of decorative.
Spotting trouble early
Active versus passive distress, the instinctive drowning response, and the quiet submersions that get missed. Recognition is the skill that buys every other skill its time.
Entries, approaches & extrication
Reaching and throwing before entering, tube technique, approaching a panicked victim safely, and getting a person out of the water and onto a hard surface.
Suspected spinal injury
In-water stabilisation, backboarding as a team, and recognising the shallow-water diving injuries that make speed the wrong instinct.
CPR, AED & oxygen handoff
Compressions on a wet casualty, integrating the AED on a wet deck, and a clean handover to arriving EMS. Our CPR and AED courses are A.S.H.I. certified.
Emergency action plans
Who whistles, who clears the water, who calls, who meets the ambulance. Written to your facility, then rehearsed in it until nobody has to think about it.
Formats
Run on your deck, around your schedule.
Season opener
A full skills session before opening week, so a seasonal team starts sharp rather than getting sharp on the public.
Monthly in-service
Short recurring drills through the season. Skills decay fast without practice, and in-service is what keeps a team honest.
Scenario testing
Unannounced scenarios run against your own emergency action plan, with a written debrief on what worked and what did not.
Skills training, not lifeguard certification
Circle of Lifesaving drills lifeguard skills and rescue technique. We do not issue lifeguard certification or renewals — if your role or facility requires that credential, you will need a certifying body that offers it, and we're glad to point you toward one. Our CPR, AED, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens courses are certified through A.S.H.I., and most guard teams take them alongside this training.

Tell us your facility, team size and season dates, and we will build a drill schedule around them.
